Sheep foraging in the snow
Despite the presence of a large pile of hay, which most of the sheep in this field are using, these three are finding enough poking out of the fresh snow to keep them away from the group. Although night time frosts have been hard recently, the snow has come with a warm front, and is quite soft, so no doubt it is little effort to scrape it away and the grass below is no longer frozen. A small minority of these sheep seem always to prefer foraging away from the supplied feed -
