Golden Plover, Danebower Hollow
Golden Plover, Danebower Hollow
A dull trudge across the featureless moor of Danebower Hollow was enlivened by the mournful calls of a pair of Golden Plover (Pluvialis apricaria), one of only a few specialist bird species that breed in the moorland environment. This bird is in summer plumage; males and females are hard to distinguish in isolation.
