Borth Beach 1974
Borth Beach 1974
Superficially not much has changed since this photo was taken but there are three things from this old slide that stand out. Firstly the large building on the left, originally built as a hotel when the railway arrived and subsequently having several different uses and names, has long gone (1979 I think). Secondly the groynes have no end beacons as many now have, e.g SN6089 : Groynes on Borth beach and finally there is much less development above the cliffs in the distance.
2015 update to point 2: The groynes have all gone and have been replaced by huge piles of boulders and a reprofiled beach. Not as pretty but it keeps the sea away from the village!
