National Waterways Museum, canal barge engine
This inverted vertical single cylinder steamy engine was built by G L Bignell of Stony Stratford, works No. 5 of January 1890. It was recovered from the wreck of the narrowboat Seagull at Up Nately brickworks. The barge had apparently been out of use since 1904. This is thought to be the only surviving genuine narrowboat steam engine.
