Elmwood Hall initials, Belfast (2)
Elmwood Hall initials, Belfast (2)
See J3372 : Elmwood Hall initials, Belfast (1). Another carving this one between the window and the eaves. It seems to be “JC” over “M” with both over what might be a “C”. The architect’s initials were “JC”. The builder’s “HM” and the carvers were Michael and Thomas Fitzpatrick. Any further information/answers welcomed.
The Elmwood Hall, Belfast

Built in 1859-62, to a design by John Corry, as Elmwood Presbyterian church. The builder was one Henry Martin who might have been the predecessor of H&J Martin. The tower was built a bit later – in 1872. The railings and gateposts date from 1873. Now the home of the Ulster Orchestra.
