Lech Kaczynski tribute, Belfast
Tribute, in front of the City Hall, to the Polish president Lech Kaczynski, who with his wife and 95 others died yesterday in an aircraft crash in Russia. The flight was taking the President, his wife, the military chief of staff and other top officers, central bank governor, deputy foreign minister, members of parliament and other senior officials to a memorial ceremony for Polish soldiers killed by Soviet forces during World War II.
Belfast City Hall :: J3373
Belfast City Hall was built in 1896/1906, by H&J Martin Linkto a design by Brumwell Thomas. It replaced the White Linen Hall (1785-1896) Link
(“white” refers to the colour of the linen rather than the building) on the same site in the middle of Donegall Square. Apart from its architectural merits and being the seat of the City Council it tends to be the place from where directions are given.
