SH5561 : Mountain track above Padarn Lake
Unless I'm very much mistaken this dwelling is Gallt-y-celyn.
It was the club "hut" of Salford University Mountaineering Club whilst I was at Salford in the early 1970s and had been for some time (prior to then it had been Salford Technical College's and the Royal College of Advanced Technology's hut). I don't know when it changed use, I suppose it became too valuable not to sell!
The sleeping areas were equipped with PU foam "mattresses". I remember turning up late one Friday night to find the place unusable as it had just been treated to get rid of fleas in the foam!
The communal frying pan was often to be seen with a layer of mouse droppings on the solidified fat, as people heated it up to fry their bacon and eggs!
