The photograph is taken from the PEL light located in Port Mor, Isle of Muck. The CalMac ferry, MV Loch Nevis, uses the PEL light as an aid to navigation between the dangerous reefs at the entrance to the harbour area. The ferry is also aided by two perches, one green, starboard-hand, lateral buoy and two red port-hand, lateral buoys. The PEL light emits red, white and green light. Only when a ships helmsman can see white light is it safe to proceed.
