Duke of Wellington's Column
Erected in 1817 by contributions of the County Meath. Arthur Wellesley was born to a local 'Protestant Ascendancy' family and educated for a time in the town. He later served as Member of the Irish Parliament for Trim. The family owned Trim Castle which was later sold by the Duke.
