In the foreground of this photo is part of the long, lonely track to Blaen-Cothi (which lies to the left). Beyond the track lies the low ridge of Esgair Tan-lan and beyond that lie successive ridges rising in succession towards the distant wilderness of Mynydd Mallaen. The steep, dark slope on the far left marks the left-hand side of an impressive gorge cut by Afon Cothi as it approaches the road from Rhandir-mwyn to Pumsaint.
