Shipmeadow House of Industry
Shipmeadow House of Industry
The workhouse for the Wangford Union opened in 1766 with 31 paupers, within a month the number had risen to 150. It could house 350 and had 29 separate rooms for married couples. It had its own pest house, granary and laundry run by the inmates. After it closed it was purchased for rearing chickens and turkeys. It was later sold and turned into private homes named Viewpoint.
