A view of the great spur wheel with wooden teeth, this reduces noise and fire risk along with expensive maintenance. The pump can be seen left, driven off a second wallower.
Euston Watermill

Euston watermill Link is one of four mills open to the public in Suffolk. It is on the private estate here which is open to the public on several days of the year. The mill was built by Sir Samuel Morland in the 1670s for Lord Arlington. It was supplied by a man made lake via a canal Link. The original waterwheel position is the bricked up section next to the main door Link. The purpose was to pump water to the fountains and hall. In 1731 the mill was redesigned by Willian Kent, to look like a church. The canal was filled in and the weir built. A single pair of stones was also added Link. The iron waterwheel Link and axle are of the local manufacturer and famous Charles Burrell of Thetford Link. A simple handcrane was used as a sack hoist Link
