Railway bridge, Helen's Bay
See J4582 : Clandeboye Avenue, Helen's Bay (1) and J4582 : Clandeboye Avenue, Helen's Bay (2). With all the surrounding vegetation removed J4582 : Helen's Bay station (9) the railway bridge across Clandeboye Avenue can now be seen properly. For the record it and the station J4582 : Helen's Bay Railway Station were designed by Charles Lanyon, in the Scottish baronial style, in 1864, in consultation with the Marquis of Dufferin and Ava through whose land the railway was built. There is a photograph in “Railway History in Pictures, Ireland Vol 1”, by Alan McCutcheon, David & Charles, 1969, showing the station with four (yes four!) uniformed staff.
