BGS The throw of the bedding and the consequent soil patterns and erosion are clearly defined by the shear planes in the west north west rise, cut from the centre narrow band and the east south east rise, the centre eastern section contains syenite, the mass is sandstone. The two faults are oriented SSW SSE so the central zone is a wedge, forced by northern thrust Moine Lewisian complex and foundering.
