Consecrated as a Chapel of Ease in 1818, distinctive features of the Church include the surviving box pews, the absence of a central aisle and the combination of two styles of arch. St Peter's is part of a Benefice of three churches the others being St Mungo's, Simonburn and St Michael's, Wark.
