ST9900 : Eye Bridge over the Dorset Stour

taken 13 years ago, near to Pamphill, Dorset, England

Eye Bridge over the Dorset Stour
Eye Bridge over the Dorset Stour
This old footbridge over the Dorset Stour was repaired during Autumn 2009, and given higher wooden sides, a non-slip floor, and angled stair approach. The land on the near side is a large island owned by the National Trust, called Eye Mead (Island Meadow), the footbridge is the only footpath access. There is a small car park on the far side. In summer canoes are launched to paddle upstream 2 miles to the next weir, and youngsters leap off the bridge as the water is fairly deep and easy to climb out of.
