Former Carlisle Memorial church, Belfast

The Carlisle Memorial Methodist church, in Clifton Street overlooking Carlisle Circus, was built in 1872-75 to a design by WH Lynn, one of the most prominent of Belfast’s Victorian architects. Described as being a Gothic Revival church in the Early English revival style, it was an early victim of The Troubles/The Armed Struggle in the area and has been disused for around 40 years. Note: this description and the photographs taken by me appear as a matter of architectural record only and should not be interpreted as expressing any political, religious or sectarian opinion. On the “At Risk” register.

Now (2013) owned by the Belfast Buildings Trust LinkExternal link which is considering how it can be restored and put to community use.
