Dome, Belfast City Hall (5)
See J3374 : Dome, Belfast City Hall (4). It appears that this structure, on the top of the dome, is a very ornate lantern. The view is from May Street. Continue to J3374 : Dome, Belfast City Hall (6).
Belfast City Hall :: J3373

Belfast City Hall was built in 1896/1906, by H&J Martin LinkExternal link to a design by Brumwell Thomas. It replaced the White Linen Hall (1785-1896) LinkExternal link (“white” refers to the colour of the linen rather than the building) on the same site in the middle of Donegall Square. Apart from its architectural merits and being the seat of the City Council it tends to be the place from where directions are given.
