See J4569 : Former Macdonald's shop, Comber (1). The part of the sign referring to Mr Macdonald as a “posting master”. A posting establishment was a place for keeping horses during the Victorian era. The shop dates from 1913 – he might still have been in that business or he might have run the local post office which, in 1910, was also in Mill Street.
