taken 19 years ago, near to Sledmere, East Riding of Yorkshire, England

Fake Eleanor Cross
Fake Eleanor Cross
This is a fake Eleanor Cross... the original 12, of which only two remain at Waltham Cross, Geddington and at Hardingstone, were erected in memory of Eleanor of Castile, wife of Edward I. When she died, Edward had the twelve crosses erected along the route of her funeral procession between Lincoln and Westminster Abbey. During the 19th and 20th centuries several fake Eleanor Crosses were erected.
