Ashton's Mine
The Engine House was built in 1875 to house a steam engine for Ashton's or Pindale lead mine. The filled in mine shaft (not in the picture) is to the right, behind me is the ex powder store. The shaft sunk 100 metres before hitting tuff, the lead was excavated from toadstone (must have been basalt?).
Now caters for 8 people self catered
