Seat at Cairndoon (4)
When seen from a distance this stone structure on a hillock some 80 metres AMSL and about 150 metres south of Cairndoon Farm appears to be a large rectangular cairn. Closer inspection however reveals it to be a purpose built resting place about 10 feet high with seats on three of the sides facing north, south and west.
Each seat is capable of sitting one person comfortably in a draft free zone to admire the surrounding vistas. The east facing side of the structure has no seat for no other reason than I can think of other than the view in this direction is not as spectacular as the rest of the views.
The structure features on OS Mapping and is named simply as the 'Seat'. The direction of view beyond the Seat is east over rolling farmland around Cairndoon Farm. The view from the Seat
NX3738 : View from the Seat (4) is west towards Luce Bay.
