NJ2061 : WW2 Spigot Mortar Mount

taken 13 years ago, near to Pittendreich, Moray, Scotland

WW2 Spigot Mortar Mount
WW2 Spigot Mortar Mount
In the centre foreground is a relic from WW2 - a mount for a Spigot Mortar (or Blacker Bombard) which was an infantry operated Anti-tank weapon. Probably located here to cover the railway bridge crossing, which is out of sight on the right, and the other bridges (river and railway) beyond Palmerscross house which is in the background of the picture.
