Cold Ash ridge from across the fields of Westrop Farm
This ridge on the skyline, which stands some 280 feet above the valley of the river Pang, is six miles long and runs in an arc from Hermitage in the north, through here at Cold Ash, to Upper Bucklebury and finally to Chapel Row in the east. The geology of the ridge (referred to as a ‘plateau’) is mainly glacial sands, gravels and head with some clay in the north near Hermitage
