Several styles of loop are set within the walls, this being a particularly fine example having a Latin inscription of 'Tandem Triumphans' above it. This is an old Jacobite motto meaning 'Triumphant at last' or 'At last victorious'. Presumably added by Richard Nagle in 1809.
