Castles of Leinster: Donadea, Kildare (1)

Incorporated into the ruins of what is essentially a view of an C18/C19 house is a four storey tower that has the arms of the Aylmers upon it, a family who were its owners until 1935. The tower which projects to the rear of the house, may have been built as late as 1624, the year on a datestone over the entrance doorway.
