Castles of Leinster: Doon, Offaly
Formerly known as Esker, it was rebuilt by the Nugents after an English built structure had been destroyed by the MacCoghlans. Owen Mooney held it until he was transplanted to Co. Clare by the Cromwellians during the 1650s. There is a sheila-na-gig on a quoin at the SE corner.
