Lisburn Cathedral

An Anglican church was established on the site in 1632. It was destroyed in the war of 1641. Rebuilt, the successor fell victim to the Great Fire of 1707. It was rebuilt (again) almost immediately retaining the tower of 1642. The spire was added in 1804. The clock and bells were a gift from the Marquis of Hertford in 1796. Extensively renovated in 2010/11. The charter, raising the church to the status of a cathedral dates from Charles II in 1662.
