A variation on the usual form of cast-iron protection J2458 : Wall protection, Hillsborough (1) this example seems to be two pipes filled with concrete. The wall, at the corner of the North Circular Road and the Magheralave Road, surrounds the railway station and J2664 : Former stationmaster's house, Lisburn.

Usually metal attachments, often conical or spherical, dating mainly from the era of the horse cart and the early motor lorry. Many cast by local foundries.
