The Second Pilgrim Station on the summit of Croagh Patrick
The Second Pilgrim Station on the summit of Croagh Patrick
The pilgrim on reaching the summit has to kneel at the Second Station and say 7 Our Fathers, 7 Hail Mary's and 1 Creed. He/she then prays near the chapel for the Pope's intentions, then walks 15 times round the oratory saying 15 Our Fathers, 15 Hail Marys and 1 Creed. Finally, he/she walks round Patrick's bed saying 7 Our Fathers, 7 Hail Marys and 1 Creed. This is not all, there is a third station, Roiling Mhuire ( Virgin’s Cemetery) on the western side of the mountain. Here there are three cairns of stones and the pilgrims
walk seven times round each cairn, saying seven Our Fathers, seven Hail Mary’s and one Creed and finally go round the whole enclosure seven times praying.
