Beamore Crossroads, Drogheda, Co. Meath
According to the Meath Heritage Trail plaque sited near the crossroads, for centuries this was a place of gathering & entertainment for local people and those who walked from the Doola Gate area of Drogheda. Card games, skittles, melodeon-playing and ‘pitch & toss’ took place here under the trees and in front of the ‘Viceregal Lodge’ as the small gate house was humorously titled.
Social life at the cross roads declined after the 1950s.
