Limestone strata
Limestone strata
Just above the high tide mark, limestone strata are broken into large, smooth steps at the foot of a small cliff of more finely-laminated, muddy formation. All of these strata are listed as belonging to the Benbulben Shale Formation, of Carboniferous (Holkerian) age.
