SY6768 : Trinity House warning marker

Trinity House warning marker
This 7m tall obelisk was constructed in 1844 by Trinity House to warn of the rock shelf which extends the headland below the high water mark. It was built after the lighthouse and not before as one might assume. The sightseers conveniently give an idea of the size of the object.

Although saved from demolition in 2002 I suspect that the erosion of the structure's foundations might make the reprieve short-lived.

The post and rope barriers are to dissuade people from walking on the grass and keep to the paths. It seems to be working well as the grass and wild plants are doing nicely.
