This is the other steam engine that shared the engine room at this mill (see SD8811 : Ensor Mill, steam engine). This was a horizontal tandem compound built in 1908 by Wm Sharples & Co Ltd of Ramsbottom. The Corliss valve cylinders were 18.5" and 39" bores by 48" stroke. The flywheel was 22' diameter and drove by cotton ropes. It was rated at 750 indicated horsepower at 72.5 rpm on steam at 160 psi. It ran until 1974 and was scrapped the following year.
