This marks the edge of railway land alongside the viaduct over the Glaze Brook.
It was installed by the Great Western Railway and is dated 1895, when the "new" all masonry replacement viaduct was built to replace brunel's timber and stone one. See SX6859 : Glazebrook Railway Viaduct.
