Former drove road closed following catastrophic erosion. The former drove road between Llanddewi-Brefi and Abergwesyn was washed away by storm rains in early spring 2014. The unsurfaced byway has been eroded and damaged by convoys of "off-roaders" in their four wheel drive vehicles for many years, and now the weather has totally broken through the fragile stony topsoil, making it totally impassable. The road is closed between the ford across the Afon Doethie Fach and the chapel at Soar-y-Mynydd. Some walkers and mountain bikers are still using the route, but extreme care is needed on this section which is still collapsing unpredictably. The "canyon" is more than two metres deep in several places. The route is expected to be clsed for at least eighteen months.
