J1258 : The Newforge Road, Magheralin (1979)
taken 45 years ago, near to Magheralin, Co Down, Northern Ireland
A narrow stone bridge carrying the Newforge Road, from Magheralin to Donaghacloney, across the River Lagan. Suitable for one lane of traffic only, it’s now controlled by vehicle-activated traffic lights. There is a reference in “The Industrial Archaeology of Northern Ireland” but not to the date of building. Not (apparently) listed.
A collection of photographs showing road signs and marking in their context. It exists as a matter of record only, has no connection with any official body and does not claim to be a definitive or legally-binding guide. The official version is the Highway Code for Northern Ireland.
