Chatham Marina - VIC 96 engine room
Built as a standard design of inshore coaster for the admiralty in 1945 and now preserved at Chatham in full working order. This is the Crabtree of Yarmouth inverted vertical compound engine that turns the single screw. The high pressure cylinder with piston valve is nearest the camera and the slide valve low pressure is beyond it. There is manually operated Stephenson link reversing gear.
