Sir Mark Sykes, 6th Baronet died at the Paris Peace Conference in 1919 of Spanish influenza. His body was interred in a lead-lined coffin and was thought to have been well preserved; it was exhumed in 2008 by a team led by Prof John Oxford in a bid to recover intact flu viral particles.
