Coolbawn House (1)
Coolbawn House (1)
Described as 'a splendid mansion in the later English style' it was commissioned by Francis Bruen in 1840 who employed the architect Frederick Darley (Jr.). No expense was spared during its construction, only the finest cut stone was used, and it was finished with white granite from the locality. The mansion joined the lengthy list of prominent landowners' houses destroyed during 'The Troubles' when it was fired in 1923.
