Castles of Munster: Raheen, Cork (1)
Ivy has almost obscured this four storey tower located on the east side of the harbour of Castle Haven. The west wall bears signs of the Cromwellian bombardment of 1649, and evidence of burning is visible inside. The tower is likely to have been built by Donal O'Donovan after his succession from his father in 1584. However, his son forfeited it in the 1640s, and although he recovered it later, his son, yet another Donal, forfeited it to the Williamites in the 1690s.
