Castles of Munster: Killagha, Kerry
This 60 foot tall O'Donohue tower was where the poet Geoffrey gave his famous feasts after he became Chief in 1643. In 1652 the castle was attacked by General Ludlow's army, and partially destroyed by cannon fire forcing the O'Donohues to flee. The chimneys on the west and south walls served fireplaces in the upper storeys.
