Avenue of poplars, D'Arcy Dalton Way, near Watchfield
The 66-mile D'Arcy Dalton Way stretches from the Ridgeway between Swindon and Wantage to north Oxfordshire. Here, in the Vale of the White Horse near Watchfield, the Way leads northwards through an avenue of poplar trees.
The D'Arcy Dalton Way was created to mark the Oxford Footpath Society's Diamond Jubilee in 1986. It takes its name from Colonel W. P. d'Arcy, a founder member of the Oxfordshire Field Paths Society and a defender of Oxfordshire's rights of way. LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link )
