The Burren - R480 - Poulnabrone Dolmen
View is to west. This megalithic tomb dates back to about 3500 BC. It is the most outstanding of Ireland's many dolmens (impressive stone monuments erected over the graves of the dead). Excavations here in 1980s revealed that at least 22 adults & children were buried here, along with personal, such as a polished stone axe, a bone pendant, quartz crystals, weapons & pottery.
