Telegraph pole near the Kilpatrick Tunnel
Telegraph pole near the Kilpatrick Tunnel
Not far from the north eastern portal of the Kilpatrick tunnel, a telegraph pole still stands, over 50 years after the railway closed in 1961. There were numerous others in evidence along the line. The tree blocking the route just beyond fell very recently - there were still fully grown leaves on the branches that hadn't even started decaying.
