Cnoc na Gréine, a new housing estate being built on the eastern side of Granard, Co. Longford.
Irish housing developers have the advantage of two languages to invent flowery names for their estates. Notice the lack of hills or on this occasion sun.

Granada Dance Hall.
I have had some correspondence about the hall:
Eilish Devine wrote: This building was once the Granada Ballroom where drink free live country bands dances were held ever Sunday night. The birth of the Disco and the licenced dance halls saw a steady decline in patrons attending the weekly dance and it closed in the early eighties. Music was 99% country and western bands. Bands like Gina, Dale Hayes and Champions and Joe Dolan could draw crowds of over fifteen hundred people. THis is the building where I was first allowed to go to a dance and was the sole point of entertainment for many a year in the Cavan, Westmeath and Longford areas. It was also where my father first asked my mother out to dance and where he proposed to her. Its very sad to see it fall into this state of repair. I do believe there may be plans to do something with it but since I have long since moved away from the area I'm not to sure
