Viewed across the B4352. The pub's website states that The Red Lion is a former coaching inn dating from the 16th century. The pub is built on a well located under the hallway by the pub cellar.
There is a stream under the rear car park and the land that was formerly occupied by the Red Lion Garage (now Lion Close houses).

Red Lion pubs

The second most popular name for a pub, this name became popular when James I ordered red lions to be displayed outside all public places.
