SP0188 : New pumping station, Smethwick

taken 17 years ago, near to Smethwick, Sandwell, England

New pumping station, Smethwick
New pumping station, Smethwick
The restored pumping station installed to pump water from Telford's new main line in the cutting to the left to the old main line built by Smeaton on the right. As mentioned in SP0188 : Brasshouse Lane Pumping Station this pumping station replaced the engine house nearby which supplied the original short Smethwick summit level.
