The 'Tenacious' in Bangor Bay
The 'Tenacious' in Bangor Bay
The tall ship 'Tenacious' at anchor in Bangor Bay. I have seen many vessels, including tall ships, anchor here overnight but had never seen one lit up so wonderfully before. Getting a decent photograph was extremely tricky due to strong winds and this was the best I could do. The light on the right is Blackhead Lighthouse.
'Tenacious' is a ship owned by the Jubilee Sailing Trust who commissioned the vessel in the 1990s. Allegedly the largest wooden hulled ship built in the UK in the last 100 years, 'Tenacious' was launched in April 2000. It is one only two 'Class A' tall ships in the world purpose built to enable people of all physical and sensory abilities to take an equally active role in sailing the ships the other being the 'Lord Nelson' J3474 : The 'Lord Nelson', Belfast, J5182 : The 'Lord Nelson', Ballyholme Bay, Bangor.
