The massive concrete blocks used to construct the breakwater extension each weigh 23 tonnes and are called "stabits". Designed so that however they are placed they remain stable, the name comes from the Manx coat of arms - "Quocunque jeceris stabit" - "whichever way you throw it, it stands"
